Signs from the universe come to us in many ways. Another name for this is intuition. Our intuition is the way we access information from God, universe, or higher selves depending on your belief system. It is truly the roadmap of our lives. All of us are born with this ability. The more we trust and work with our intuition the clearer the messages become.
What does intuition mean? It means insight or perception without reasoning. How many times have you had a “gut feeling” about something and you find out later you were right? How many times have you thought about someone and in the next moment that person called you? How many times did you know something to be true without clear supporting evidence? Then later, you find that you were right. These beliefs or concepts all relate back to our intuition. We are moving from the information age that is based on our mind and computers to the intuition age. Given all the challenges on our planet today it is most important we tap into our intuition for guidance and inspiration.
There are four main ways of accessing or tapping into our inner guidance. The first way is claircognizance which means “clear knowing.” More specifically it is knowing something without any evidence without any evidence to support the knowledge. An example of this would be: The first time I met my husband a thought came into my head “We will be married.” I had no basis to support this thought and someone would have thought I was crazy for even thinking it. I do believe that was a message from someplace other than my little self. I am still not sure if it came from God, my guardian angels, or higer self. It does not even matter since it did come true.
The next way we access our guidance is called clairsentience which means “clear feeling.” A lot of people naturally have this. This would be when one might say “I have a strong feeling I am going the wrong way or this place does not feel right.” Our “gut feelings” communicate to us how something feels. It can be a positive feeling as well as a negative feeling. I had an opportunity to travel to India this October. I had a bad feeling about it and cancelled. Now the opportunity has come again to travel in March and it feels completely right. I am certain I am making the right decision based on clairsentience.
The third way we access information is called clairaudience which means “clear hearing.” This form of intuition, for me, is one of the primary ways of getting information. I hear messages while hiking or when I completely absorbed in a project. While living on the East Coast and before moving out to the West Coast, I was looking through a fitness magazine that was advertising for instructors at the world famous Golden Door Health Spa. I heard this loud voice in my head persistently telling me to “call them.” I did and from that moment on my life changed dramatically. They invited me out for an interview 3,000 miles away from my home. Again I heard a voice that said “go”. I did and my life has never been the same. I have never looked back on my decision to come out to California from the East Coast. I continue to get many clear messages today for others and myself. The more we trust, the louder and clearer this voice becomes.
The last way of receiving divine guidance is through our vision or clairvoyance which means “clear vision”. This is when we get messages in a picture from outside our bodies, dreams, and movies in our minds’ eye. One day my friend was asking my thoughts about her moving to Reno, Nevada. It felt like a good choice but I wanted to see if I could get any information from the Universe by closing my eyes. When I did, I saw horses in my mind’s eye… which she loves. A few days later she visited Reno and looked at some houses and one of them was near horses. She felt really good about it, but still had many fears. The following week I was driving on the freeway and we were talking on the phone about her possible move. In that moment I turned my head to the left and saw a big truck drive by with a huge sign on it that said “RENO.” I knew without any doubt that this was not an accident and it confirmed to me that she was destined to go to Reno. Almost a year later she is still thrilled she made this decision.
Another example is through our dreams. I receive information all the time in my dreams and when I pay attention I am amazed by what is revealed. One day I was hiking with a group of scouts. I sat down by a stream to write in my journal. I was working on a children’s metaphysical story at the time and I could not figure out what to say about the girls in heaven. That night before bed I wrote out my prayer to find a way to get the information that I was missing. I went to sleep with the journal under my head. I dreamt about a tall man with white hair who was leading me. I woke up without a clue who this man was or where he was leading me. That same day I hiked down the mountain and camped out for a few days before some of the other scouts got off the mountain. About 3 days later all the scouts and Dads came back and one of them in particular asked me what I did while I was down the mountain. I told him I went hiking, wrote in my journal, and worked on my childrens’ story. He asked me about it and I told him that I was missing some information about the Heaven part of the story. He said ” I have the perfect books for you. They will fill in all the blanks.” I looked up at him and realized he was tall and had grayish-white hair and was the man in my dream. When I got home he brought the books to me and sure enough they were perfect.
I am clear I came into this life with some difficult lessons to learn at a very young age and my path was set before I was born. Out of these lessons I had a choice to choose fear and devastation or hope and faith. I have come full circle and my life is filled with hope and faith today. I feel divinely guided to be able to offer hope and wisdom to others. We are all connected in this big circle of life. As my yoga teacher Swami Veda has profoundly stated…”We are each a wave in the ocean of consciousness. We can’t draw borderlines between the waves. We are all waves in the same ocean. This ocean is the place of pure love and knowledge.” My prayer in these challenging times is for all of us to be able to dip ourselves into the ocean of pure love and draw upon our own internal wisdom. It is available to all of us.
